Jan Kronqvist recently joined Imperial College as a Newton international research fellow (postdoctoral researcher).
He graduated 2018 with honors from Åbo Akademi University in Finland, and he received an award for the best PhD thesis at the Faculty of Science and Engineering (see thesis). In 2018 he was awarded a Newton International Fellowship by the Royal Society, and he was also awarded a grant by the Foundations Post Doc Pool (given by the Swedish Cultural Foundation in Finland) to support his postdoc research.
His main research interests are within mixed-integer nonlinear optimization, operations research, solver development, and using integer programming in machine learning. He is one of the main developers of the MINLP solver SHOT , which was awarded the COIN-OR Cup in 2018 for best contribution to the COIN-OR initiative.
